The Ministry of Health Permanent Secretary Dr. Diana Atwine has hinted at the possibility of lifting the national lockdown following the vaccination of over 2m people.

She made these remarks while appearing on NTV this morning to shed light on the current Covid-19 situation.

According to Dr. Atwine, the country might have to learn to live with the virus. “Covid 19 isn’t going to go away soon. The best thing to do now is to embrace vaccination.”

As much as the government is encouraging people to get vaccinated, some citizens are reluctant because of information and allegations discrediting the vaccines such as some of them being expired.

Dr. Atwine however dismissed these claims.

“No vaccine expired. We got the unused vaccines from various districts and took them to places that had a high number of people seeking to get vaccinated, that’s how we utilized all the vaccines,” she marked.

According to Dr. Atwine, the Ministry of health keeps getting better by the day and it is on the verge of hitting all its targets.

“By God’s grace, our health Ministry is getting better every day. Our mortality rates are so low, the malaria numbers have gone down, we are close to hitting our HIV/AIDS target and we are glad.”
