Rugby legend and celebrated coach, Robert Sseguya alias Soggy has passed on. Soggy has for a long time been battling leukemia.

Earlier this year, the former Rugby Cranes coach and the legendary player was admitted at Mulago National Referral Hospital after initial tests revealed that he had leukemia, a scary cancer.

The rugby fraternity held a fundraising campaign and financially supported Soggy. In June, he was discharged following his phase 1 Chemo treatment.

In his playing days, Sseguya played for the National team on various occasions including the 7s team that featured at the 2006 and 2010 Commonwealth Games. He also won the 2006 Elgon cup and he is a two-time (2002 and 2007) African Championship winner.

He won five league titles and seven Uganda Cups with Heathens.

Soggy is described as a versatile, fierce, and very competitive legend. He’s arguably one of Uganda’s greatest rugby players ever.

Rest In Peace, Soggy.
