Different security agencies have this morning held a security briefing from the Police headquarters in Naguru. In the briefing focusing mainly on the upcoming elections, Inspector General of Police (IGP) Martin Okoth Ochola said they’re prepared to ensure that Uganda will have peaceful elections.

Ochola said that the Electoral Commission has already availed them the different guideline they have to enforce during polling day.

“I would like to assure the whole country that whoever causes trouble will regret why his or her mother gave birth to him or her,” said Ochola.

He added, “There are political leaders who are urging their supporters to go in large numbers and monitor the elections on false claims of election fraud which is against the EC guidelines. There is no evidence of voter fraud.”

Similarly Deputy IGP Maj Gen Paul Loketch said that they shall not accept any disorder or chaos in the country.

“Nobody will shake our resolve. We are a very resilient force with an agile team that can adjust and adapt to any threat,” Loketch said.

Defence Minister, Adolf Mwesigye said that this is not the first time Uganda is having elections and it will not be different this time as they will carry out enforcements within the law.

“Political candidates must accept the choice of the people as declared by the electoral commission. The only channel you can use to oppose the results is the courts of law,” said Adolf Mwesigye.
