State Minister for ICT and National Guidance Hon Peter Ogwang has revealed that cabinet approved the restoration of social media platforms such as FaceBook, Twitter, Instagram that had remained under shut down despite the reinstatement of internet after elections.

On January 13, government shutdown internet claiming it was a security threat ahead of the January 14 general elections. On January 18, internet was restored but social media platforms remained off until today when government has decided to switch it back on, according to Minister Ogwang.

“Internet and social media services have been fully restored. We apologise for the inconveniences caused, but it was for the security of our country. Let’s be constructive, not destructive users of social media,” said Minister Ogwang.
