The National Unity Platform (NUP) leader Robert Kyagulanyi is not swayed by UPDF’s move to sentence junior officers following the Wednesday incident where military police officers ruthlessly beat up journalists and his supporters while he delivered a petition to the UN Human Rights in Kololo.

UPDF yesterday sentenced seven of its officers that include; Capt Jessy Odwenyi, Cpl Nimusiima Justine, Pte Wasswa Peter, Pte Tsame Imran, Pte Kisakye Victoria, Pte Opiyo Isaac and L/cpl Zirimenya Kassim.

Bobi Wine says the sentenced low rank officers are only paying for the crimes of their seniors. The presidential hopeful claims that Lt Col Namanya Napoleone Kyabihende, Director Operations Military Police and formerly from SFC commanded the forces to beat up people but he’s surprised he did not appear amongst those that were sentenced.

“Namanya personally hit NTV’s John Cliff Wamala on the head, causing a deep wound,” says Bobi Wine.

He adds, “Today, when the military paraded soldiers that they claim to have beaten journalists, I did not see Namanya.

This should teach everyone that in Uganda today, some people commit crimes while others pay for the crimes.”
