The UG Hip Hop Awards are back for 2021. Where most Awards have decided to ‘sit out’ the Covid wave, it is commendable that UGHHA and MTN have decided to proceed with this years Award. This shows the spirit of perseverance that the genre has in general.
The main difference in this years Award is that it will be virtual with only 200 invited guests and MTN Pulsers invited to enjoy the night and every else will be able to log onto the fun on the MTN official YouTube https://www.youtube.com/user/MTNUG.
The other main difference is that everything is now streamlined. Their site www.ughha.com, and their Instagram and Facebook pages are all solely concentrating on the Awards themselves.
In the past, having bloggers and other such pages take the helm on promotion could get the messaging mixed with the blogs other priorities, so we commend them for this measure to streamline information.
The MTN “Pulse Nation” Cypher will also be open again to any young (or old) rappers that want to compete. They simply send in a video to the MTN pulse site and enjoy cash prizes upwards of 2,800,000ugx as well as being featured on a cypher with some of UG’s greats.
To participate, one will log onto https://pulse.mtn.co.ug/pulsenation/pulse-nation-cypher download the beat, record a video rapping on it and also submit it via the mtn pulse microsite https://pulse.mtn.co.ug/pulsenation/pulse-nation-cypher/upload-your-video
