It has been raining daily and the weather forecast predicted thunderstorms that opposition Ugandans hoped would interrupt President Yoweri Museveni’s sixth swearing in ceremony.

However the day has been uncharacteristically sunny as Museveni who first took power in 1986 took another oath that will see him having ruled Uganda for 40 years by the time this term of office comes to an end.

The joke on social media was that “tajja kulayira” loosely translated to “he won’t swear in” and people banked on the weather, with many labeling it their plan B.

It is a public secret in Uganda that event organisers usually rely on the services of rainmakers to keep the skies clear when they have events.

One such event promoter who has been rumoured to procure the services of the rainmakers is NRM party apologist Balaam Barugahara the proprietor of Radio 4.

Balaam has been in the thick of things in organising the swearing-in ceremony and many on social media better that the skies would remain clear.

Several people including former Senior Presidential Press Secretary and now Vision Group CEO Don Wanyama thanked Balaam for keeping the skies clear on their social media pages.

“Balaam Barugahara Ateenyi and Matthew Bagonza well done on the rain. You Banyoro are something else!” Don posted on Facebook.
