New MPs take oath; Aceng, Among, Akena, Moses Ali among those who have taken oath

The four-day swearing in ceremony of MPs-Elect has today kicked off at Parliamentary building in Kampala. A total of 132 MPs will today Monday be sworn in for a five-year term as representatives for different constituencies across the country, in the 11th Parliament.

Hon Jessica Ababiku, Adjumani District MP was the first to take oath at 8am in the swearing-in ceremony presided over by the clerk to Parliament.

Anita Among being accompanied by FUFA President Moses Magogo.

By press time, 65 out of the 66 MPs who should have taken oath before lunch time, did so and the ceremony will resume at 1.30pm.

Some of those who have already taken oath include; Tororo District Woman MP, who is the State Minister for Mineral Development, Sarah Opendi, Health Minister Dr Jane Ruth Aceng, UPC President James Akena, First Deputy Prime Minister and Deputy Leader of Government Business, Gen. Moses Ali and Anita Among among others.
