The Prime Minister Hon Robinah Nabbanja yesterday revealed that government will not distribute food to the vulnerable groups during this lockdown period but will rather offer monetary support to these groups.

She said the money will be sent using mobile money and the voucher system. The idea has been received by the public with mixed reactions.

Distributing relief aid through Mobile Money is actually a good idea. The problem is that people don't trust govt officials to pass on the money without 'eating' it. The trust deficit that the govt has right now is so big that even if they promised sunshine we would doubt them.

Some smart person from the teleco might have pitched the mobile money idea to the government.
