Ugandans are funny! Are you one of those who are yet to believe that Uganda is unique? Please it’s high time you believe because it has become a culture for Ugandans to turn anything bad into a joke.

Five days ago, President Yoweri Museveni announced a 42-day total lockdown across the country and listed essential workers who are allowed to move as the ministry of works and transport works on issuing travel permits.

Museveni however, permitted vehicles and motorcycles carrying sick people to move given they have documents confirming their situation.

To our notice some people have devised means of beating the security surveillance around it. According to the Police Political Commissar, AIGP Asan Kasingye, city dwellers are using fake COVID-19 certificates to beat road blocks.

“Some Ugandans have chosen to get fake positive Covid-19 certificates. When they are stopped by Police, they flash out the papers and claim they are going for treatment. Our officers quickly wave them off than risk “catching” it,” said Kasingye in a tweet.

He disclosed that immediate today, road blocks will have health teams who will take them for admission.

Other tricks city dwellers use is bribing their way through.
