The National COVID-19 Taskforce has decided that the Local Council authorities will identify persons to benefit from the COVID-19 relief package according to our sources.

The taskforce led by Prime Minister Robina Nabbanja yesterday held a planning meeting to divide issues in the implementation of the COVID-19 relief Plan. The top leadership believes that LCs system can easily identify the vulnerable people in their respective areas as opposed to the National Taskforce.

However, sources reveal that the perimeter of identifying the vulnerable basing on recent Mobile Money transactions also still stands.

Earlier this week, the taskforce agreed that the COVID-19 relief token to vulnerable groups be sent through their respective Mobile Money numbers other than giving out food.

“When we get the list, we shall check and if your number has been receiving money (Shs500,000 ), we shall cancel your name from the list,” Nabbanja said earlier this week on who is eligible to get Government’s COVID-19 package.
