A herbalist, boda boda rider charged for the murder of Gen. Katumba Wamala’s daughter, driver

Following a failed assassination attempt on the life of Gen. Katumba Wamala that left him wounded and claimed the lives of his daughter Brenda Nantongo Wamala and driver Haruna Kayondo, two men have been charged for murder.


The charged men are Sserubula Hussein Ismael alias Imamu Muto aged 38 years, Muganda, Boda Boda Rider, resident of Nakuwadde, Nakabugo,Bulenga Wakiso District and Nyanz Yusuf Siraji aged 46 years, Muganda, Herbalist, resident of Kyanja Village,Nakawa Division, Kampala District.
According to the charge sheet by the Criminal Investigations Directorate, the men are charged with three cases.


“Sserubula Hussein Ismael, Nyanzi Yusuf Ismail and others still at large on the 1st day of June 2021at Kisasi Central Zone in theKampala District murdered Nantongo Brenda Katumba,” stated the first count.

The second case, “Sserubula Hussein Ismael, Nyanzi Yusuf Ismail and others still at large on the 1st day of June 2021 at Kisasi Central Zone in the Kampala District murdered No.RA/175389 SGT Haruna Kayondo,”


The third case, “Sserubula Hussein Ismael, Nyanzi Yusuf Ismail and others still at large on the 1st day of June 2021 at Kisasi Central Zone in the Kampala District attempted unlawfully to cause the death of General Edward Katumba Wamala,”
