Man kills his ex-wife, hands himself over to Police with the killer panga

Police in Mbarara are holding a man who killed his ex-wife on Thursday, according to Charles Twiine, the Spokesperson of the Criminal Investigations Department.

Twiine said that the man, whose name had not yet been revealed by the police by press time, killed his former lover by hacking. He later handed himself over at Mbarara Police Station with his killer panga.

The CID PRO explained that shortly after the murder, the man had attempted to commit suicide.

The case is suspected to be of domestic violence as the couple separated in February this year.

“Inquiries are underway to understand the motive of his crime,” said Twiine.

Of late, Police has reported increase in the number of domestic violence crimes with many attributed to the effects of lockdown.
