With health workers being at the frontline in the fight against the deadly COVID-19, Members of Parliament have asked government to offer a compensation of Shs100m to the family of each health worker who succumbs Covid-19 in the line of duty.

Just last month of June, 14 health workers contracted COVID-19 while on duty and later died. Many of these are said to have contracted the deadline coronavirus due to lack of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).

Herbert Kirobere, MP for Kibuku County said that health workers’ requirements and demands should be prioritised to enable them work safely.
