The Minster of Education and Sports Hon. Janet Museveni has today released the 2020 Uganda Certificate Examinations of 333,396 students that sat for the exams . The 2020 candidates were 4,324 less than the candidates who sat in 2019.
According to the Ministry of Education,a better performance was registered compared to 2019. 312,162 candidates passed compared to 288,387 who passed in the previous year. Of the 333,396 students that sat for UCE, 148,128 were Universal secondary Education beneficiaries. 50.01% were males students while 49.99% were female.

Female candidates performed better than males in the English Language while in other large entry subjects, male candidates show better performance, with the differences more marked in Mathematics and the Sciences. Chemistry remains the worst done subject.
A total of 519 special needs candidates sat for the exams while the UNEB centre in Luzira Prisons registered 45 candidates. Of the 45, Four obtained Division 1, eight passed in Division 2, 15 got Division 3; and 18 passed in Division 4.


Results of 1,292 students will be withheld due to malpractice. This number was 1,825 in 2019
While releasing the results, Hon.Janet Museveni said that this year’s performance is better than the one for last year.
“What is outstanding today is that the overall performance is better than the preceding year, 2019.This kind of performance should be a destiny that God is still in charge and still in the business of blessing us,” said Hon. Janet.Museveni
