“He is a true son of Africa,” Somali President mourns Gen Lokech

The President of the Federal Republic of Somalia, H.E. Mohamed Abdullahi Mohamed Farmaajo has condoled with President Yoweri Museveni and the people of Uganda over the death of Maj. Gen. Paul Lokech.

Gen Lokech was announced dead on Saturday morning by the UPDF spokesperson Brig Flavia Byekwaso who said he succumbed to blood clot.

According to the national broadcaster UBC, Somalia’s President In a telephone call to President Mohamed Addullahi Mohamed yesterday telephoned Museveni and issued his condolence.

He described the late Maj. Gen. Paul Lokech as a true son of Africa and a patriot who worked hard towards peace and security on the continent and particularly in Somalia.

Maj. Gen. Lokech was christened Lion Of Mogadishu for his role in commanding UPDF forces on a peace keeping mission in Somalia.

Lokech was Commander of the Uganda contingent to Somalia, as part of the AMISOM peace-keeping force between 2011 and 2012. He was redeployed to Somalia between 2017 and 2018.
