Olympics gold medalist Chemutai promoted to rank of IP as Cheptegei’s name is forwarded to Museveni

As a norm in police to award officers who have hit expectional heights in different fields, Uganda Police Force has promoted female police officers who participated in the 2020 Tokyo Olympics.

The most notable is gold medalist in the 3000 women steeple race Peruth Chemutai. She has been promoted from SPC to Inspector of Police.

AIP Chelangat Mercyline from Assistant Inspector of Police to IP, CPL Chemutai Immaculate from Corporal to Sergeant. PC Shida Renny from Police Constable to Corporal.

The Police Authority has also recommended the promotion of IP Joshua Cheptegei to a rank of ASP or above.
The recommendation has been forwarded to President Museveni who has the powers to promote gazetted officers.

Cheptegei won silver in the 10,000m and then gold in the 5,000m in Tokyo.
