16-year-old girl poisons her newborn baby

Amuria Central Police Station in Amuria district has arrested a 16-year-old girl for allegedly poisoning her 18-month-old daughter.

According to Ronald Omaido, the acting District Police Commander (DPC), the suspect was arrested on Monday from Ocanai village in Asamuk Town Council in Amuria district.

Omaido said she will remain in custody as the Police investigate the matter.

Sources reveal that the suspect confessed to committing the crime. She is said to have poisoned the child due to a lack of support from relatives after the father of the child passed on.
