Mityana District Woman Member of Parliament (MP) Joyce Bagala Ntwatwa has said that she is going to appeal against the decision to throw her out of Parliament.

Earlier today, Mubende High Court Judge, Justice Emmanuel Baguma nullified the election of Bagala as the Woman MP Mityana District following a petition by NRM’s Judith Nabakooba, the Minister of Lands, Housing, and Urban Development.

Justice Emmanuel Baguma ruled that there were acts of non-compliance in different Polling stations in particular, at; King Faisal (ND-Z), Kiyinda A (A-M), Kiganwa Primary School, Kawoko Playground, Mityana A Kanamba, Busimbi Gombolola area (A Nak), Nandegejja, Primary School, Comprehensive S.S Campus, Kiyinda B (Nak z), Busimbi Railway (A-M) and Busimbi/Kasimbi (A-M) at Merryland Polling stations.

The judge also said there was enough evidence in the petition to prove that Bagala, through her agents, with her knowledge and consent or approval committed the electoral offence of bribery.

Speaking to journalists shortly after the ruling, Bagala said: “This ruling is not surprising. What do you expect from someone who tells a lie blatantly.”

Bagala said a lot of illegalities have happened a few weeks to the announcement of the judgment. She vowed to appeal against the court’s decision.
