The Uganda Law Society has appealed to its members and well-wishers for assistance to settle medical bills for Anthony Wameli.

Wameeli is currently undergoing chemotherapy at Boston Medical Center in Massachusetts, US.

Counsel Wameeli of Wameeli and Company Advocates and also Head of National Unity Platform Party Legal Department Lawyer was diagnosed with stage four cancer (Colon alias Bowel cancer) this year in September.

In June this year, Wameeli fell ill and was rushed to hospital after complaining of stomach pains, and at some point, it was rumoured that he might have been poisoned due to his political affiliations and human rights activism.

However, he was later flown out of the country between June and July this year, and biopsies were done leading to the discovery of his stage four cancer.

Wameeli has since through social media and other platforms called for financial support as his medical bills keep on increasing and Uganda Law Society has joined the fight, calling on its members to rescue their colleague.

In a press statement issued by Uganda Law Society President Pheona Nabasa-Wall, Lawyers have been urged to financially support Counsel Wameeli’s treatment abroad.

She said that all contributions are to be handed to Wameeli’s Family whose long stay and treatment is expensive and has taken a toll on the Family financially.

ULS voted Wameeli as the best criminal lawyer and his firm in September this year.
