Makerere University student summoned for hacking and rigging guild elections

According to a local University-based website, a one Waidembe Yusuf, a former President Makerere University Government Student’s Association (MUGOSA) has been summoned by the Directorate of ICT at Makerere University over hacking into the University system and rigging the 86th guild elections.

This follows the recently concluded 87th guild elections held by the University that were won by NUP’s Nambassa Shamim.

Yusuf Waidembe, the accused is however shocked by the allegations. In a conversation with the University-based website, Waidembe intimated that he was shocked to receive a phone call from a technical assistant at the college of computing informing him to appear before DCIT head-on allegations of hacking and rigging.

Waidembe further revealed that the University blocked his webmail account. He is being accused of rigging votes for Oguttu Aron one of the aspirants in the 86th guild race.

Waidembe is set to appear before Makerere’s DCIT today, 16th November to defend himself or else face the law for criminal charges.
