Police has released a statement on the double blasts that occurred in the Central Business District today morning. The explosions occurred at Kooki Towers near the Central Police Station and around Jubilee Insurance House along Parliamentary Avenue.

According to the Police Spokesperson, Fred Enanga the first blast went off at exactly 10:03 am while the second blast occurred at 10:06 am. He explained how a male adult detonated a bomb on himself at Kooki Towers near CPS.

“The fresh footage on CCTV clearly indicates how a male adult, putting on a black jacket, and carrying a backpack, detonated himself.  He died instantly and the spillover effect caused additional injuries to police officers and other civilians who were within a radius of 30 metres,” said Enanga.

About the explosion near parliament, Enanga said that two men disguised as Boda riders before detonating the bomb.

“Two suicide bombers were clearly captured, on motorcycles, disguising as bodaboda riders.  They detonated the bombs they were carrying on themselves, that killed them instantly,” said Enanga.

He claimed that the attacks are being carried out by Domestic Terror groups that are linked to the ADF

“It clearly shows that the ADF linked radicalized groups, still have a desire to carry out lethal attacks, on soft targets, with suicide attackers and improvised explosive devices,” he said.

Three deaths have been registered and 33 people sustained injured with five of them in critical condition.

The attacks come 22 days after the last suicide bomb attack on Swift Safaris Bus.
