With the festive season around the corner, Matooke Republic has compiled survival tips that everyone needs during this season to keep healthy.

Don’t use food as a reward

The festive season is all about merry-making and lots of eating and as we kick off, this festive using food as a reward is a dangerous habit. Food should only be used to provide fuel for your body, and should always be enjoyed! Rewarding yourselves with meals leads you to overeat.

Schedule your workout time

The festive season is all about festive meet-ups, holiday parties, and dinners which usually happen in the evening so schedule your workout time in the morning. Make it a routine to work out in the morning so that your exercises don’t interfere with your merry-making moment. Remember little effort is better than none.

 Drink Water

The trick is to keep hydrated at all times. One, it satiates your appetite and also prevents hangovers in case you drink a lot of alcohol.

Set realistic goals

Keep in mind that it’s very okay to do less exercise during this season. Your focus should be on maintenance rather than improvement. For instance, if you know it’s impossible to stick to your current exercise routine, sit it out and set a more realistic goal.

Create new family traditions

Create new family traditions that involve you moving your body. For instance, can take a stroll as a family every afternoon or evening, you can also decide to go swimming based on what you love doing as a family. Make sure the time you choose is convenient; remember the goal is to be consistent.

Avoid skipping meals

Try not to skip meals and avoid letting yourself get too hungry because when you’re hungry you will end up eating everything and anything. To avoid poor nutrition choices avoid skipping meals.
