Exercise discipline

You probably are going to get calls every day from friends asking you to come and hangout. However tempting this maybe, it is advisable to say no to some of them, especially if you are going to spend. And if the temptation is too great, because we get it, it’s the holidays always be disciplined when indulging.

Be on the look out for freebies

The idea is to make you spend less during this time where your instincts tell you otherwise. Most churches usually have activities and entertainment that the whole family can enjoy. And its free of charge.

Buy your supplies early

It is not advisable to be a last minute shopper. One actually runs the risk of ending up over paying for the gift as most merchants take advantage of the demand during the holidays.

Try a new tradition that is less expensive

Most families have their own unique family holiday traditions. However, you can switch it up with new exciting traditions that do not require you to spend a huge amount of money.

Travel early

If you would like to avoid getting caught up in the traffic on the highways and paying a lot of much transport fares to the villages , it is important to travel a lot earlier. The best would be for days before Christmas, plus this gives you ample time to plan the christmas festivities with famiily

Carpooling

Travel costs can take a chunk out of your budget and with the uncertain economic times this year due to COVID-19.  Carpooling to your holiday destination makes financial sense. Carpooling allows more people to use one vehicle which reduces travel costs in terms of fuel used. It also provides you the home drop facility.

Cook your own food

For many who celebrate Christmas, food is one of the things we most look forward to. Therefore if you don’t want to spend a lot on food we may advise to cook for yourself instead of buying in expensive hotels.
