The government is set to launch a cash relief program that will support 300,000 teachers across the country.

While addressing the media this morning, Aggrey David Kibenge, the Permanent Secretary of Ministry of Gender, Labour and Social Development said that each teacher will receive Shs100,000 net. The program will cater to the taxes and withdrawal fees.

According to Kibenge, the decision to target teachers in private schools was based on the fact that schools have been closed since March 2020 when COVID-19 forced a nationwide “lockdown”.
