SAD: Mob reacts to false alarm, beat traffic officer into a coma

A traffic officer identified as Police Constable (PC) Harshim Nwenyi has been brutally attacked by a violent mob at Makerere-Nakulabye junction near Nicodemus Pork Joint in Nakulabye.

According to AIGP Asan Kasingye, the Police Political Commissar, PC Nwenyi left his Tororo unit to visit his girlfriend.

“They had a misunderstanding over messages on her phone. He walked away with the phone,” said Kasingye in a tweet.

Kasingye narrated that the officer was attacked at Makerere-Nakulabye junction.

“At Makerere-Nakulabye junction, she caught up with him and raised an alarm accusing him of theft. The mob beat him into a coma,” he said.

Kampala Metropolitan Police deputy spokesperson Luke Owoyesigyire said;

“There was a mob justice incident around Nicodemus Nakulabye. The incident happened on Thursday at around 9:00 pm. The area Police responded. The officer is currently admitted at Mulago Hospital,” he said.

Owoyesigyire said no arrests had been made yet.
