The Police in Rukungiri have arrested two siblings for killing their 85 years old mother.

According to the Kigezi Regional Police Spokesman Elly Maate, the two suspects are known as Christopher Turyahebwa and John Twinamatsiko and are both residents of Nyamambo village Kibirizi parish Buhunga Sub County in Rukungiri District.

Maate noted that it’s alleged that the late has been in conflict with the two biological sons over a piece of land that the two gentlemen wanted to grab by force.

Maate stated that the husband of the late, Peter Kahandana woke up in the morning and could not see her around.

“Considering the deceased’s record of checking on neighbours every morning, he could not bother tracing her but prepared himself and moved to the church for Sunday prayers, “Maate explained.

It was at the time the husband returned from church at around midday when he got information from residents who had gone to a nearby swamp to collect Papyrus that he had found the wife dead.

The matter was reported to Buhunga Police Station by the Area LC 1 Chairman, Mwesigwa Jackson who in turn reported to Central Police Station in Rukungiri and the scene was visited and documented by the Police and the body was taken to Rwakabengo Health Center III Mortuary for Postmortem examination to ascertain the actual cause of death.
