West Budama South MP Jacob Oboth Oboth has reportedly resigned from his position as State Minister for Defence to contest for Parliament Speakership.

Reports indicate that he will pick up nomination forms from NRM party offices today.

Oboth was one of the contenders last year when fallen Jacob Oulanyah was picked as Speaker and Anita Among as Deputy, but withdrew.

NRM members are today expected to express interest in the speakership race. On Wednesday, their names will be discussed in the Central Executive Committee (CEC), and on Thursday, the caucus meeting will decide on who will be their flagbearer.

Meanwhile, Thomas Tayebwa will not contest for Speakership and stays in his position as Government Chief Whip.
