The 48-year-old woman was rushed to Kibuli Muslim Hospital where the condition worsened and she was referred to Mulago Hospital Causality Ward.

“Sadly, despite the best efforts of paramedics, the victim was pronounced dead on arrival at Mulago,” said police.

The police said the driver of the ambulance then made a phone call to the deceased family, informing them of their relative who had been knocked down by an unknown hit-and-run vehicle.

“This prompted the deceased’s family to seek guidance from traffic investigators to ascertain the cause of her death.

Police CCTV cameras were able to identify the vehicle involved in the fatal accident as UBA 784U belonging to Kibuli Muslim Hospital using the Automatic Number-Plate Recognition (ANPR) camera located at Yusuf Lule Road and the same was later seen arriving at Mulago Causality Ward,” said police.

According to the postmortem report, the deceased suffered from multiple fractures causing internal bleeding.
