Julius Bukyana has resigned from his job at Next Media Services, NBS TV in particular to be able to run as a Member of Parliament for the East African Legislative Assembly (EALA).

Bukyana has been the news anchor of sunrise news on NBS TV.

“Thank you, Julius Bukyana, for your great service to Next Media Services. In you, the group loses such a committed team player as a journalist. I wish you the best in your quest to be an EALA MP and have no doubt how big an asset you can be for Uganda there. Good luck!” Kin Kariisa, the Next Media Services CEO said in a tweet.

Bukyana had earlier expressed interest in running for the Entebbe Municipality MP seat in the 2021 general elections before he withdrew from the race.

However, this time around, he seems determined to go to the East African Legislative Assembly. But we are yet to establish which political party he intends to subscribe to. The former Nkuma University Guild President holds a degree in mass communication.

Bukyana joined the media after scooping a job at Record TV while in his final year at Nkumba. After two years at Record TV, he threw in towel when he landed a job at NBS TV.

Meanwhile, the electoral process for the fifth Assembly of EALA will commence by September 17, 2022, according to the letter from the Clerk to Parliament, Adolf Mwesige Kasaija.
