Bukwo CAO shot dead in Matugga

The acting Bukwo District Chief Administrative Officer (CAO), Robert Ogwang, was last night shot dead by unknown assailants in Matugga, Wakiso district.

According to reports, the incident happened at around 1 am as Ogwang was traveling to Lira City.

The gunmen fired several times at his official vehicle with registration number UG 0865Z. It was set ablaze by gunfire.

Available information reveals that Ogwang was rushed to Bombo Military Hospital where he was pronounced dead.

According to the police, they have already started investigating the incident.

“The incident was reported to Police by locals at 2309hrs on 08/07/2022 after they heard gunshots at Kiryowa, Mabanda, Bombo Road near Banu Petrol station.

The officers from both Matuga and Kasangati police stations rushed to the scene only to find the car on fire. The police fire prevention and rescue services responded and managed to extinguish the burning vehicle,” said police in a statement.

It added, “An inquiry has kicked off to investigate the murder with the hope of identifying the assailants and knowing their motive.”
