United Kingdom’s Princess Anne and her husband Sir Timothy Laurence arrived in Uganda last evening.

Princess Royal and her husband Sir Timothy Laurence hosted a dinner held at the residence of the British High Commissioner in Kampala.

President Yoweri Museveni was among the guests that attended the dinner.

“I was hosted to a dinner by Her Royal Highness, Princess Royal and her husband Sir Timothy Laurence at the British High Commissioner’s residence in Kampala.

“We talked about the different patronages she has come to support here. I welcome her and wish her good luck,” Museveni wrote on his official Twitter handle.

Meanwhile, Princess Anne is on a four-day visit to Uganda and is set to carry out a number of engagements.

This morning Princess Royal visited the state-of-the-art laboratory and clinical research facilities in Entebbe to observe the work they are doing in health research for infectious and non-communicable diseases in Uganda.

The busy programme will also see Queen Elizabeth’s only daughter open the first commercial bank in the Nakivale Refugee Settlement, an honour she will carry out as the patron of Opportunity International, an organisation providing people living in poverty with access to loans, financial training and savings.

Among other engagements the royal will carry out in Uganda is one linked to Save the Children UK, with which Anne has been closely working for more than five decades.

As patron of Transaid, an organisation working to improve people’s lives by providing safe, available, and sustainable transport, the royal will conclude her trip to Uganda by visiting an HGV truck driver training programme called “Safe Way Right Way”.

During the engagement, she will view a demonstration set up by female students.

The princess was also scheduled to visit the Salaam School for the Blind, where a fire gutted and killed 11 pupils. But reports indicate that the princess will not visit the school.

Princess Anne is one of the working members of the Royal Family supporting the Crown and King Charles through her work.
