Walid Regragui, the manager of Morocco, led his team to the World Cup quarterfinals for the first time in their history.

Following a goalless 120 minutes, his team defeated Spain 3-0 on penalties. Sevilla goalkeeper Bono, was then the hero of the penalty shootout, saving from Carlos Soler and Sergio Busquets after Sarabia hit the post.

The heroics mean that Walid Regragui has become the first African manager to reach the FIFA World Cup quarterfinals.

The 47-year-old was born in France; however, Regragui was a full international for Morocco. He played for some clubs in France, including Toulouse, AC Ajaccio, Grenoble, and Racing Santander.

Walid was appointed to replace Vahid Halilhodžić, who led the North Africans to the tournament. Regradui is on a high, having coached Wydad Casablanca to the CAF Champions League title in May.

He was hired to be the head coach of the North African side in August. Morocco is unbeaten under him.
