TORTURE: “Bobi Wine, Besigye and Gen Muntu should be investigated,” Minister Otafiire

The Internal Affairs Minister, Kahinda Otafiire, has ordered police to probe leaders of opposition parties for allegedly parading fake torture victims at a UN Human Rights Conference in Kenya last month.

Speaking at the commissioning of 420 police staff apartments in Naguru on Thursday, Gen. Otafiire claimed that NUP president Robert Kyagulanyi alias Bobi Wine, Dr. Kizza Besigye, and Alliance for National Transformation (ANT) national coordinator, Maj Gen Mugisha Muntu, former leader of opposition Winnie Kiiza among others paraded victims of boda boda accidents.

Otafiire equated their actions to treason.

“These were boda boda accident victims. The government does not drive boda boda and it has never put anyone on boda boda. I have directed the crime intelligence director to look for these people and hand them to the CID director [Brig Gen Chris Damulira] so that they can be taken to court,” Gen Otafiire said.

Meanwhile, since 2020, a number of NUP subscribers have been kidnapped, held without communication for several months, and then released with horrific injuries all over their bodies.
