Events promoter Abbey Musinguzi also known as Abitex has been arrested following a stampede at a New Year event that claimed 10 lives at Freedom City.

While addressing journalists during the weekly media briefing at police headquarters in Naguru, the police spokesperson, Fred Enanga said Abitex is being interrogated.

Enanga also revealed that the police are hunting for other organizers and the management of Freedom City.

He explained that the facts gathered so far indicate that the event’s MC encouraged attendees to go outside and watch the fireworks display.

“His reckless statements resulted in a stampede on the narrow stairs, resulting in the deaths of people and injuries to several others,” said Enanga.
