Police in Masaka, with the help of a police sniffer dog, arrested a murder suspect.

The suspect, identified only as Miiro, was tracked and apprehended by police dog “Gringo” from the K9 unit.

He is accused of murdering Matovu Bashir, a 22-year-old resident of Kanyogoga village in Masaka’s Kimanya-Kabonera division.

Reports indicate that the police received a report of the murder and therefore introduced “Gringo” at the scene, picked up the human scent of the suspect, tracked him for around one kilometer, and led the officers to the nearby rentals where the dog zeroed on one Miiro.

The suspect is currently being held at Kirimya Police Station pending further investigations before being taken to court.
