BESIGYE: There are many moles in the opposition

Veteran opposition strongman Dr. Kizza Besigye, has acknowledged that there is no reason to question the existence of moles within the Ugandan opposition.

“There are many moles in the opposition, there’s no doubt about that. What distinguishes a mole from a non-mole is not what they say but their actions,” said Besigye while appearing on the NBS Frontline show.

When asked if his close associate, the Kampala Lord Mayor, Erias Lukwago is a mole, Besigye said that he believes Lukwago is not a mole because of his actions.

“Lukwago will continue to be attacked as long as he doesn’t compromise and do what they want,” he said.

For a week now, a letter said to have been authored by the Chief Coordinator of Operation Wealth Creation, Gen Salim Saleh in which he said he had withdrawn his support from Lukwago, has been making rounds on social media and become a topic of discussion.

However, Lukwago and Gen. Saleh have been silent about the issue.

“What we are seeing with the Lord Mayor is not any different from what has been happening in the country.

“They” will try to attach anything to someone who is fighting the junta, so they discourage the population. It’s an old trick used by all juntas,” said Besigye.
