Ugandans excited by fake Bank of Uganda letter stopping citizens from gifting money

Social media has been buzzing with a letter purportedly from the Bank of Uganda.

A letter with the incorrect date prevents citizens from giving gifts of money.

“The public is informed that any Ugandan citizen caught misusing Ugandan money in form of making gifts for their beloved ones will be charged and taken to prison,” reads the letter in part.

Nevertheless, despite the letter being a fake, a lot of Ugandans, particularly men, have expressed their excitement on social media about being “stopped” from making financial gifts.

Recently, it has become popular for some men to give their partners flowers that have been “decorated” with cash notes.

A one Shariff Omega said, “Thank you Bank of Uganda ???”

“No more misuse of our money.? Thank you Police and Bank of Uganda,” Musiime Bright tweeted.

The Campusor applauded BOU, “Bank of Uganda has really listened to our far cry forever. This is now officially illegal ????.”

“Thank you, Bank of Uganda, for saving this boy child. May God bless you and protect all your children ba dia… Long live the best president in the whole world, President Museveni, long live East Africa,” Kamukama Freddie.
