The National Unity Platform (NUP) lawyer Wameli Anthony is dead.

“Very sad day! Just learnt of the untimely passing of our dear brother and Head of our Legal Team, comrade Wameli Anthony from the U.S. where he’s been admitted for treatment. Details will be provided in due course. May his soul rest in eternal peace,” said NUP president Bobi Wine in a post.

In June 2021, Wameeli fell ill and was rushed to hospital after complaining of stomach pains, and at some point, it was rumoured that he might have been poisoned due to his political affiliations and human rights activism.
