Controversial City Lawyer Male Mabirizi has been finally released from Luzira prison after serving his sentence.

Earlier last year, Justice Musa Ssekana ordered the arrest on the sight of Mabirizi as he was on the run to serve 18 months at Kitalya for contempt of court.

The lawyer was arrested on February 21 from Kyambogo University Banda gate and taken to Kitalya Prison.

He was, however, transferred to Luzira Prison.

Before Mabirizi was arrested, he challenged the orders by Justice Ssekaana labeling them illegal. The lawyer argued that no man can be a judge in his own cause.

He consequently ran to the Court of Appeal to challenge all orders including one fining him Shs300 million and the 18-month prison sentence.

His appeal was dismissed.
