The “shock” and excitement that Kabaka Ronald Muwenda Mutebi and the queen of Buganda Nnabagereka Slyvia Najjinda have twins has taken another twist after the kingdom caretaker, Abdul Migadde issued a statement this afternoon.

Earlier this week in her soon-to-be-released autobiography titled, “The Nnaabagereka of Buganda Queen Sylvia Nagginda Luswata,” the Queen revealed that she was blessed with a set of twins.

On Page 205 of the autobiography, Nagginda writes, “On December 6, 2010, I was blessed with two more girls Jade Nakato and Jasmine Babirye born in Kampala… They’re two amazing kids who are mostly happy and are passionate about people which, at their age, I find astounding…”

This shocked many as they wondered how the kingdom has been silent about the said twins for the last 13 years.

However, through a statement shared this afternoon, Kasujju Lubinga (caretaker of Kabaka’s) said that Kabaka Mutebi has no twins. He explained that in Buganda, once twins are born, rituals are performed.

“No twin rituals have happened in the palace,” he said.

“The last Kabaka to give birth to twins while on the throne was Sekabaka Daudi Chwa who gave birth to Princes; Kalemera Wasswa and Kiggala Kato in 1925,” he added.

According to Kasujju, there are several children that are raised in the palace but do not biologically belong to the Kabaka.

“The wives of the Kabaka can decide to take care of children that don’t biologically belong to him. Such children can’t be officially introduced to the kingdom,” he explained.

Below is the full statement.
