Take an example of the Sudhirs and Madhvanis that have made it here – Museveni woos International Lohana business community

President Yoweri Museveni has wooed the international Lohana community to take advantage of the huge raw material base and invest in Uganda.

The President was speaking at the Lohana International Business Forum held at Speke Resort in Munyonyo on Wednesday.

The forum themed ‘Africa Calling’ attracted over 800 business leaders from of the Lohana community from over 28 countries.

Museveni hailed the Ugandan Lohana community and thanked them for inviting other investors that will help in the transformation of the country.

“Lohanas like the Ruparelias and the Madhvanis have invited you form the other parts of the world. I thank them so much because this economy can grow to a trillion if you add value to our raw materials
We have got a large spectrum and quantity of raw materials,” Museveni said.

Tycoon Sudhir Ruparelia, The Chairman Board of Trustees of the Lohana Community in Uganda made a case for investing in Uganda as it is in this country that he has invested to be recognised as the wealthiest individuals in Africa.

“Uganda has many natural resources, a young and increasingly educated workforce, steadily rising middle income and more stable in governance including micro economic policies which makes an idea of this nation for a long term investment,” he said.

Sudhir described President Museveni as foresighted, supportive of the business communities in Uganda and is always willing to listen to all business entrepreneurs whenever need arises.

During his address, Museveni rooted for manufacturing in the country and pointed to several sectors that can be exploited including agro processingsl, minerals, fresh water resources to facilitate fish farming, forest products, knowledge sector like the automobile industry, services sector and the pathogenic economy.

Museveni said Uganda is welcoming to investors from across the world and noted that the Lohanas have played a big part of the country’s development for several decades.

Mahaparishad Satish Vithalani is the global chairperson of the Lohana International Business Forum. He thanked Uganda for the hospitality encouraged members of the community to invest here.
