Vipers Sports Club President Lawrence Mulindwa clocked a year older today. He is 58.

Mulindwa is a statistician, an educationist, an achiever, and a tycoon.

Born to the late Edward Mulindwa (RIP) and Catherine Mulindwa Nakyejwe in 1965 at Kanyike, Kammengo in Mpigi District, Dr Mulindwa has been an integral part of the development of education and sports in Uganda.

In sports, Mulindwa started out as a chairman of First Division outfit Bunnamwaya FC (later renamed Vipers) from 2000 to 2004. He has developed the club into one of the biggest clubs in the country.

In 20004, he was voted FUFA President and he served for over nine years until he retired in 2013.

However, stepping out of the FUFA president’s office has not stopped him from serving the game.

Mulindwa, who is surely driven by passion defied the odds and erected a 15,000 capacity-stadium, which was completed in 2017.

The gigantic stadium named St Mary’s Stadium, Home of Talents is not only the second biggest stadium in Uganda after Namboole Stadium but also the first private-owned stadium in the country.

He was once quoted saying that building the stadium was far more important than setting up several arcades.

The former FUFA president is also the owner of St Mary’s College Kitende, a school that takes pride in being a sports powerhouse. It also ranks among the best schools in the country.

Happy birthday Lawrence Mulindwa
