On Tuesday, April 4, 2023, in Bugolya Village in the Budaka District, Wilberforce Mbulamaye, who family members believed had been “buried” on June 3, 2020, reappeared.

Mbulamaye, a 54-year-old father of five who lives in Bugolya village in Nabugalo Parish in Kameruka Sub-county, mysteriously left the village on January 3, 2015, after being released from a Budaka prison for assaulting a neighbor.

After that, he moved to the Gomba District where he found casual employment on several farms. However, he didn’t relocate with his family.

His brother, Balinawa Mubale said that his spirit could possess his children, claiming that he died and was suffering.

They recovered a dead body wrapped in a blanket, returned home and buried it after performing the necessary rituals. He was ‘buried’ on June 3, 2020.

However, on Tuesday, the family was shocked to see Mbulamaye walk into their home alive.

Mbulamaye, his family and the locals drank and danced the entire night in celebration of his life.

North Bukedi Regional Police spokesperson Samuel Semewo said the family buried a different person as he had facilitated the exhumation and repatriation of the body.
