A 38-year-old man from Along “A” Village in the Chegere sub-county in Apac District was ordered to return a puppy that he admitted to stealing along with one cow as a fine.

Last week, Tonny Odic allegedly stole a puppy from his neighbour’s house and sold it for Shs5,000 to a friend.

“When his neighbour inquired about the puppy, he denied stealing it; however, when we interrogated him, he admitted stealing it and agreed to pay the owner one cow as a fine,” said Luzino Omara, the area chairman.

Reports indicate Odic was also asked to pay “sitting” allowances to the residents that attended the village court. The allowances totalled Shs300,000.

“Thieves have stolen a goat, a pig and chicken from that home. So, the fine was as a punishment and also a warning to other people who want to steal from others,” Daily Monitor quoted one of the residents.
