Police in Aswa Region have put up a manhunt for former Aruu MP Odonga Otto and a group of vigilantes for beating and severely injuring three businessmen dealing in charcoal.

According to the police, Odonga Otto mobilised a group of vigilantes armed with pangas and sticks and beat up three people, who had gone to buy charcoal, in one of the homesteads in Laorogali village, Atanga sub-county, in Pader district.

The three victims include; Ssemanda Charles, Wagwana Yusuf and Takafa Erisata who had loaded 12 bags of charcoal in their Fuso truck registration number UBA 600B.

The group allegedly assaulted them using sticks and pangas and allegedly robbed cash amounting to Shs1,097,700 from Ssemanda Charles.

“They also vandalised the Fuso truck and stole two motor vehicle batteries, a motor vehicle radio, woofer, motor vehicle key and trapline. The attackers further damaged the windscreen, the fuel tank and the tyres of the Fuso truck,” said the police.

The victims were later released and they reported the matter at Atanga police station.

“A serious manhunt for the Hon. Odonga Otto and all those who participated in the torture by caning and beating is active and ongoing,” said the police.
