Former Prime Minister of Uganda, Amama Mbabazi has addressed concerns regarding his health following the circulation of a video in which he is seen walking with crutches.

The video, which gained traction on various social media platforms, captured Mbabazi’s struggle to exit the Dukes Hotel in London, with the assistance of three individuals.

This footage, which began circulating on Monday, prompted speculation among Ugandans, with some suggesting that Mbabazi had suffered a stroke. However, the former Prime Minister took to his Twitter account to deny these claims.

Mbabazi expressed his gratitude to those who had sent him well wishes and assured them that he had not suffered a stroke. Instead, he revealed that he had been dealing with a back ailment, which has since been treated.

“To all those that have sent me get well soon messages, I thank you for your encouragement, sympathy, and love. It is not true that I had a stroke. I had a back ailment that was fixed, and I have actually been involved in fairly heavy diplomatic work in the last week or so. Thanks,” Mbabazi said in a tweet.

Following his participation in the 2016 presidential elections, Mbabazi gradually retreated from the political scene. However, in 2018, he assumed a position on the advisory board of The Brazzaville Foundation, a London-based organization focused on peace and conservation. He continues to hold this position to date.
