Veteran politician Dr. Kizza Besigye has announced his retirement from the fuel retail business and handed over the Total Nsambya fuel station, which he has operated for 27 years, back to Total Energies.

The handover took place on April 19, 2023, with Besigye choosing not to disclose the identity of the new dealer taking over the station.

Besigye, a retired military officer, emphasized that the Nsambya Total Station was the only fuel and service station he owned.

This decision to relinquish the station aligns with Total Energies’ ongoing restructuring of operations in Uganda, which includes the closure and sale of certain fuel stations.

However, Besigye’s choice to hand back the Total Nsambya station carries a more personal motive. He expressed his intention to retire from the fuel retail business and shift his focus to other ventures.

In his statement, Besigye expressed gratitude to Total Energies for their partnership and conveyed his best wishes for their future endeavours.
