Police in Kampala Metropolitan North and Nansana Division conducted a raid on an unregistered home that was allegedly harbouring 131 individuals.

The victims were reportedly under the pretense of receiving training and induction for jobs in the Middle East labour market.

Two suspects, including Namubiru Rashida and Ramathan Hakim, were arrested for their alleged involvement in trafficking in persons.

The unregistered training center, operated by Musa Suna under the name WORLD GATE, was reportedly providing training in catering and house cleaning for the job market in the Middle East. The victims were held in confinement for several months, and their communication was restricted by removing their phones.

On July 22, the victims were recovered from the home of Alex Mary Nantongo in Akright cell, where they were transferred after initially being confined in a fenced home in Nansana.

Eight companies allegedly involved in recruiting the victims have been identified. The authorities have vowed to continue their efforts in combating human trafficking and bringing all perpetrators involved to justice.
