Mother on the run after setting house on fire to kill own children

Police in Kabalagala have initiated a hunt for a woman accused of attempting to take the lives of her own children. Reports indicate that she confined them within their house before igniting a fire.

Luke Owoyesigyire, the deputy spokesperson for Kampala Metropolitan Police, disclosed that the incident transpired last evening within the upper lakeside zone of Kisugu parish, situated in Makindye division, Kampala.

The suspect has been identified as Jennifer Nambiru, a housewife. She stands accused of deliberately setting her residence ablaze, allegedly with the sinister intent of ending the lives of her three children, aged 7, 6, and 2 years.

“Investigations involving local community leaders and the landlady were undertaken to ascertain the facts surrounding this incident. It has been established that on this particular day, Jennifer Nambiru gathered the family’s possessions, initiated a fire, and subsequently locked her children inside the engulfed house, seemingly driven by a grim desire to terminate their lives,” stated Owoyesigyire in a statement.

Reports have also indicated that Nambiru had been entangled in a domestic dispute with her husband, identified as Moses Bululu.
